Description

WISE - Women’s Integration, Skills and Employment is a FREE service running in Donegal only, available to women of all ages who are currently unemployed, a stay-at-home mum, a carer, a one parent family, on a COVID payment or a disability payment.

WISE provides a dedicated employment advisor, personal and career development, career planning, confidence and motivational building, assistance with job applications, training and development opportunities, access to employment opportunities and support in your new employment for 6 months.

We are currently providing free personal development, customer service courses and employability awards online (CVs, cover letter’s, job searching, job applications, personal marketing and interview skills, and wellness in the workplace).

We offer job brokering to employers, similar to a free recruitment service, where employers call us stating they are looking for staff. We then contact our WISE participants who want to work in that area and match them up with the employer.

We understand it can be a massive step and a major achievement to even contact us to begin the process, as a lot of women were in the past, but we are understanding and experienced. Our service is completely private and confidential with data protection a priority.

Since WISE commenced in May 2017, we have been very successful in Donegal. We have engaged with and mentored almost 480 women, completed almost 400 CVs, we assisted and supported over 440 women through accredited courses. We completed over 260 practise interviews, assisting 155 women into their chosen employment, over 70% of those sustaining employment in the long-term.

We were absolutely delighted to be recognised for our work by being nominated and going onto win the AONTAS Star Awards in 2019 under the “sustainable employment category”. AONTAS is Ireland’s non-governmental National Adult Learning Organisation. The STAR Awards are an awards initiative organised by AONTAS as part of its annual Adult Learners’ Festival. They recognise and celebrate the achievements of adult learning projects throughout Ireland.

We were also endorsed by the European Social Fund Managing Authority for the European wide Regiostars which are Europe’s awards for the most innovative, regional projects which demonstrate excellence, are scalable and transferable with the goal of inspiring other regions and project managers across Europe. Overall, there were 199 submissions, and we were delighted to reach the final 5 in the “combatting inequality and poverty” category. https://ec.europa.eu/regional_policy/en/projects/Ireland/wise-giving-women-in-donegal-ireland-the-skills-and-confidence-to-return-to-the-labour-market
